Keep ASL in schools

ASL is a right for kids to learn in schools. Do not take away that right of learning a way to communicate with fellow Americans.

Took the sign language classes a few years ago. The teachers were awesome and I learned a lot about signing in my classes. Visited with the deaf community and experienced their way of life in a close knit community. They all support each other in school , in church, in sporting activities and basically in life!

Your program is strong and this is unnecessary. You don't cut a language program because not all colleges count ASL as a world language.

Save ASL!!

American Sign Language (ASL) is extremely important. It provides students with the ability to communicate with Deaf and hard of hearing individuals and promotes inclusion and accessibility. Learning ASL is also a valuable benefit for students’ future careers, as it opens doors to opportunities in education, healthcare, business, and community services. In addition, learning ASL prepares students for their own future, as hearing loss can happen to anyone at any time. ASL is not only a language but a lifelong skill that fosters communication, understanding, and connection.

SAVE THE PROGRAM, THE DEAF ARE PEOPLE TOO! :)

It is such a beautiful language and many people don't know or don't realize it's a thing. It opens a persons mind to other paths they may not have considered.

I teach at a deaf school in Ohio. I see so many parents who cannot converse with their child because they weren't given the opportunity to learn ASL.

There are so mint other worthless programs and classes that could be cut that do not acutely prepare children to enter into society. Shame on you.

I took this class with Ms. polls almost 10 years ago and I still use it to this day we don’t have enough ASL in the world we need to keep this class!

I took asl in college and would have loved to have it while in high school

With all of the turmoil that has been going on in the world today, to lose the ASL program that clearly has helps a lot of students would be devastating. Why would West High which has been one of the most diversified schools in the SLC School District, because of the program’s and scholarships they can offer students? Why risk the students losing one of the most dedicated and talented ASL teachers Mr. Poll, that everyone has enjoyed being in his class and learning the ASL language from, along with getting the added benefit of job skills? Well, you wouldn’t if you really did care about the educational goals and aspirations of the students you have at West High.

Please keep this class for your students You have a great teacher who embraces sharing what she knows to help the deaf community

ASL should be taught in every school. From Elementary on up. You never know what life can throw at you or someone you love.

Of all languages to keep being taught in our schools, those that are used by our fellow Americans and neighbors should be a priority. American Sign Language is needed at every high school.
