Keep ASL!!! This is discriminatory for deaf people to get rid of this!

Deaf people need this

As a hard of hearing person who just learned ASL it's vital for hearing students, and all to learn ASL. It's no different than German, Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese. It's a language we need to learn as it's a language in the US.

ASL is so important to keep in school. My school did not have tires classes and I’m so sad I missed out.

All of my daughters took ASL at West, and my youngest, because of her ASL experience at West chose to major in ASL teaching for her career. It would be a great loss to West High students to lose this valuable program.

ASL is a very important language

ASL is so important in order to include our friends and family who are already right here with us, but can only hear the words we use.

I am a 2015 west high graduate. I did 3 years of ASL during high school. I would hate to see such an important program, class, and part of our community disappear. I have been able to use the skills and langauge learned in this class, both in my personal and professional career. The Deaf community deserves just as much exposure to students as does other languages currently being taught. Please keep ASL alive in our school!!!

ASL was the only reasonable option for my dyslexic kid to learn a different language. Many colleges require two years of a foreign language to apply and it would be ridiculous for a kid that struggles with phonemic awareness in English to muddy his success by learning another.

We need keep ASL in all HIGH SCHOOl!!!

Please keep this wonderful progam and teacher at West!! The benefits to the students far exceed what happens in the classroom.

As a West High and ASL class alumni I believe this program helped me more than most. Every child deserves a chance for it to do the same.

ASL is one of the most popular languages taught at West, and it underscores the school's and district's commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment. Learning ASL provides students with a useful skill across many career paths. The decision to halt this program was poorly communicated and executed

Sign language matters! There are so few people who are fluent in asl that there is a huge shortage in the job market. I’ve been asked multiple times this month about asl speakers. And many pbs kids shows from Fred Rogers Productions now have asl interpreters in the bottom corner. We should all learn it!!! From infants to adults! It helped my 2 year old communicate when he had meningitis and was no -verbal due to brain swelling and I used it when I was in the ICU after a tumor removal. It’s an incredible language!! I am not fluent at all and it still continues to help me.

ASL is a recognized and beautiful language that benefits cognition and motor skills.

Many individuals in my family have needed and used ASL over the past few years. All my children have used it as toddlers. I wish it was available everywhere, all the time!

I took Sign Language from Davis County from 2001-2003. It was one of my favorite classes. In the last 23 years, I have been able to use my ASL with so many deaf people that I noticed are struggling to communicate with someone who doesn’t know ASL. PLEASE DO NOT CUT ASL!!
