This is super important for us in the Deaf community to grow up adjusted and intelligent. Removing ASL programs leads to less-well-adjusted Deaf communities, with lower critical thinking skills and other things that keep people contributing to society. Talking away someone's access to high quality high school education is NOT a good investment for society.

This program has allowed my daughter to be a part of non-hearing community. And opened up a doorway for the hearing community to be a part of the non-hearing community. This is not just a high school class, this program is vital to the community and the will being of all!

I think this schools ASL program should be kept, I’m hard of hearing and took ASL for 4 years in high school. I loved every second of that class. ASL is such a good skill to have!

Cutting the ASL program would be a huge mistake and a disservice to our community. Communication is a basic human right, and students who participate in this program learn valuable skills for a more inclusive world. ASL is so important, people who need it will always exist!

ASL prepares students in a practical way that outperforms other languages. I took two years of Asl in high school, which prepared me to earn college credits and even complete requirements for graduation by taking a competency test based on what I learned in high school. Furthermore, I certified to interpret during college and made an hourly wage that was roughly double what my peers were making. This allowed me to still get by while working a fewer hours and being more concentrated on academic success in college. In every measurable way, my Asl studies in high school prepared me for practical application. Asl curriculum belongs in a high school setting as much or more than many other courses offered.

Please keep this program alive. I have also had a child who has taken ASL in high school and it has turned out to be so beneficial for her and our family.

ASL has been an amazing resource for our local community the consideration to cut a program that empowers students and make the accessibility for those that are deaf to communicate with more people extremely sad and disappointing that higher up would deny the opportunity for our students to learn a language that would allow us to communicate with those that are hard of hearing easier.

ASL is the 3rd most common language in the USA. It is the primary language for deaf and hard of hearing families, and is needed as people age and lose their hearing. Autistic families and those injured in accidents also rely on ASL.
