There are better options available than this ugly and expensive bund which our council seem to be ignoring.

Has Mr.Speedie got his finger in this pie as well? Everything he touches turns to s**t. It's the officers who write the reports that the councillors vote on.

The elected members are here to represent the electorate they asked for our views but unfortunatley they dont like what they heard now they have asked scottish parliment to put out to public inquiry at an expense of everyone in scotland that has to pay for it is time the elected members listen to the electorate if they cant step aside and let others who can

I still object to this monstrosity being forced on the people of Dumfries against their will.

Please just let the sands flood (it will anyway) and move the shops there up into all the empty places in the town, by drastically reducing your rates so they can afford it

Be humble enough to take advice from other towns that have The huge advantage of a river running through them

Another financial blunder by the council. They have history in making idiotic decisions with public money, look at DG1

I urge Dumfries and Galloway to cease with their plans to decimate the river views and destroy our town. With some of the highest levels of child poverty, unemployment and social deprivation, money could be put to better use.

I believe very strongly that the waterfront we have is beatiful & will be RUINED with this development. It is wrong headed both functionally &visually. What is needed is an assessment & demolition of badly affected properties which are deterioating because of changed conditions + neglect of a policy to deal with these changing conditions. People do not think that this proposal is the right answer.

There is absolutely no reason for the Earth Bund which will destroy the historic aspect of the Whitesands area and the desecration of the listed Devorgilla Bridge in what can only be described as another folly. This Council are a disgrace regarding this ludicrous plan when other, cheaper options, which are less obtrusive and ugly, have been submitted but ignored

Scrap the useless Council Flood Protection scheme! WE need a better option which will have consensus of the people in Dumfries!

Compared to the cheaper alternatives, this plan is pure madness !

This bund is impractical and will only aggravate flooding up river and down river in Kelton and Glencaple it is being built purely for arsthetic effect and the cost of building and maintaining it has not been duly taken into account. I oppose this project. The disruption to the sands over two years is a time scale that is too long and will lose Dumfries a lot of revenue and cause much traffic chaos

I do not give my permission for this Earth Bund to go ahead as there are cheaper and better options

We should celebrate our towns heritage not try to destroy it . Large tall earth bankings are completely inappropriate. Adding a huge modern ramp to our ancient footbridge is disgraceful. For centuries the bridge has provided access. Leave it alone. Buccleuch Street bridge is only yards away. Dumfries now has a reputation for badly manage - expensive - projects - e.g. The Vennel , DG1 . The cost -the length of time to complete - the upheaval -may well be the nail in the coffin for Dumfries. Do not carry on with this proposal.
