I am not against flood prevention schemes but come on D&G Council who on earth came up with this horrendous idea, the water will revert somewhere else, think positive here guys, for once in a long time, think positive & this is not the answer. Far too much money has been wasted over the years. For once listen to the people of Dumfries, before you completely ruin what used to be a lovely town

Over 6000 people are against this,so why is the council so hell bent to build it? It doesn't have seem like they have a vested interest. They didn't listen about dg1 either

Perhaps I am biased as an artist with a very sensitive aesthetic. Perhaps I am biased as a person with deep respect for the feelings of others. Perhaps I am biased as I hate to see money being wasted in communities that are near derelict; where other more deserving or needy areas could benefit. This scheme (if it goes ahead) will at least highlight the lack of drainage involved in the redevelopment of the Dock Park when it is inevitably destroyed, ancient trees and all. So many (charity based businesses included) in the artistic community are so afraid of the caprice of the council that they dare not risk further decreased funding by protesting this. This will sweep Dumfries away, despite the rationale of erstwhile engineers.

The focal point of Dumfries and a huge tourist attraction is to be blocked by a mound of soil shocking! Water has to go somewhere I wondered where it will be pushed to if this goes ahead the greens sands and the properties over there? Another DG one let's call it DG two more millions of pounds wasted.

The views of the river are unique and special to Dumfries. This is a massively overpriced scheme that will change the town forever.

When will the council start listening to the people that put them there. The majority of townspeople don't want this and feel that the money could be spent on something we urgently need like road maintenance for example.
