Protect the Whitesands, Dumfries from Council-backed development

The white sands is a key feature of dumfries and another solution should be found

This is a stupid idea, the flood wall is only going to go so far but where is the water going to go. That's right to the grave yards, bloody ridiculous listen to Dumfries people. We have our say too but use don't listen. Stupid idea

Why don't the council listen to the public x

This a total waste of rate payers money and going against their wishes think they for it was these people that put their trust in them and their best interests when spending their money just look at dg1 is this going to be dg2

Lets no make this another dg1 eh use a bit of common sense

There is a simple less expensive solution to the problem, REMOVE THE CAUL. The caul was only built to divert water to the Mill, which has long been out of use. Allow the river to return to its natural state.

An absolute waste of money this council seems set on doing although the majority of tax payers in the region are against it! Why don't they use the money to regenerate the town centre Wichita is a complete disaster!!!

Take a trip to Perth and see their gates!! Can't believe how blinkered you lot are!! There are plenty of examples how this device works well, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Nobody seems to want your monstrous "bund" except yourselves. It begs the question - WHY??

The council need to listen to the people of Dumfries

Not the best option for Dumfries - other less expensive options are available and currently in use (Cockermouth) . Another white elephant on its way for our council.

This is against the wishes of the vast majority of the people of Dumfries and and will only make an unpopular council even more unpopular if they destroy the Whitsands facing end of The Old Bridge in the process. This is a stupid and senseless idea that quite clearly will NOT work and £15,000,000 is a lot of money to be deliberately throwing away on dececrating the Whitesands.

Start caring about our town and finish dg1 of before u much up another project.

Stop ignoring the people. This idea has been rejected by them. To go ahead regardless is to imply that you have alterior motives. No one likes or trusts politicians, break the mould, serve the people, insted of feeding the mistrust.

Will be another nail in coffin for Dumfries it's a ghost town already rubbish for clothes an shoe shops

An expensive ugly and unnecessary addition to the town. I am concerned where the water will go at the end of the structure and wonder what the people who live and work in the park area feel about what must be a higher risk of flooding for them.

The town is already a shambles with the mess of the streets with glass and rubbish and half the shops sitting empty,tourists come to Dumfries to learn about the history and see the river Nith you will have less tourists when that thing gets put into place which will mean less business for local shops surely there's another way to stop flooding
