Simply look at Dundee, a solid wall. Views protected, space saved, problem solved.

200 years of inaction and now this. they are beyond ridicule. DG1 - joke. Burns Statue Square - 5 empty shops and 5 charity shops -class. Whitesands - Lord help us.

This project has got 'Disaster' written all over it, initial chaos will be followed by long term disappointment for all Doonhamers' .

This would be such a dreadful thing for Dumfries. There are other alleviating measures that can be taken, like dredging and properly managing the river and its floodplains, and removing the extensive levees protecting agricultural land upstream.

more money wasted, the council are very good at brainwashing ideas, its because of these brainwashing ideas that the town is in a fu cked state that its in today.since when was i asked on my opinion never but hay who am i to say wait till the project is done an dusted then the big question oh look at all our brainwashed scheme doesn,t work after all,see these folk that sit behind a desk pushing pens an pencils an come up with silly ideas, your answer is let the thinking be done by those who take more time to look at the situation i.e us toon folk

I think its a disgrace by Dumfries and Galloway council to go ahead and waste all this money on a hair brain idea instead of listening to the tax payers of Dumfries you should hang your heads in shame

Please don't do such a daft thing to the beautiful Whitesands - you'll rip the soul right out of Dumfries.

Dredge the river if that doesn't work then one off the sensible options but they will go with the most stupid one I wish they would ask somebody that drives a bus taxi lorry car on and around the sands or are these people with a bit of power want to make Dumfries a ghost town

Typical council can't count, can't make decisions and don't listen to the people that they are supposed to represent, small minded people with power that has gone to their heads. DG1 version 2 if it goes ahead. Dredge the ninth you idiots ! Boats used to dock on the sands at at DOCK park !

None of the previous attempts at flood containment have had only effect. Don't throw good money after bad.

This project is not needed in any way or form. The only beautiful view we have of the river will be obscured by the bund, when flooding only occurs two or three times a year. The businesses on the Whitesands knew these properties were at risk of flooding when they purchased them. I also think there will be more damage to the renovated Dock Park if the bund is built. The water surely will rush through the narrowed Whitesands area and then gush into the Dock Park and Kingholm road gardens. I think this is dreadful waste of money.
