the council designed the defense of the city center along the river, regardless of the fact that water would overflow from the riverbed in other areas, flooding houses

Ridiculous waste of public money to.prevent flooding to probably less than 100 properties (mainly commercial who mostly don't want scheme either) which works out at £300k plus per property none of which are worth anything like that.- how on earth does that make sense? Also this is a council whose track record of bringing anything in on budget is hardly impressive.

This bund will destroy our beautiful and historic riverside at a price too high to pay. Money would be better invested in dredging the river and clearing up the unsightly banks.

Leave our beautiful town alone there are far better solutions than this one!!!!

I still think a flood defence is a last resort. Looking at pictures from years back the river has been narrowed ( for more parking spaces ) reducing the area for the volume of water when in flood. I have suggested this before but if the bank on the Mill green was reduced ( a straight line from Hullabaloo to suspension bridge ) & river dredged down to passed Troqueer from the Call plus banks cleaned up & weeds & bushes removed, it may be the answer to the flooding problem. Surely this is just one of the remedies that should be tried ( among other suggestions ) at not an enormous cost, before even thinking of a flood defence.

The council has not yhought this through. Where will the water go if you block it from the White Sands? Ask them what happened in Carlisle.

I have already sent a letter of objection to the Council, why should there be a need to do it again ? It is simply a ploy to sicken people and make it look like there is less objectors.

Council are determined to crash through their design against the wishes of those in the front line of the flood

The council are not listening to what the townspeople want. They want to get rid of the biggest car park we have, & ruin trade for the busnisess on the sand. They’ve already squandered our money on dg1 & the Burns statue. They seem to live on a different planet to us. Keep our sands as it is please.

I think we need to explore further options because the ones on the table aren't good enough!

I don't know what the options are but people I trust say there are several. I love that open area of Whitesands. And what has happened to democracy Dumfries Council?
