Transgender and nonbinary individuals, making up about 1% of the population, are an at-risk and marginalized group. With higher rates of suicide, self-harm, depression, and anxiety, we must do what we can to protect this group. The government, specifically President Trump, is taking away- and threatening to take away- basic rights for this group. Among the rights being threatened are life-saving healthcare, proper documentation- IDs, passports, etc.-, proper housing for the incarcerated, and proper bathroom usage. This will lead to significantly worse mental health for this group, and will likely lead to more deaths- both suicide and homicide.

We need to protect these rights- and all rights- for transgender and nonbinary individuals and give a voice to those who are vulnerable and often misrepresented.
