Joseph Pilates was a genius and a student of change and adaptability. So long as the Teacher hours the true soul of Pilates and dedicates to learning they should not be in control of there own practice.

Pilates was given as Contrology by Joseph Pilates to us all . . . liek some many who have patented sequences in Yoga this only shows the ego and commercialism of a practice that was about every body for everybody . Pilates is for all and will always remain so

As long as the Pilates teachers have certification through a recognised training institution they should not be controlled by any one association, group or individual. We all trained through recognised institutions, achieved years of experience and have not stopped educating ourselves in the Pilates Method.

There are many Pilates training providers out there and as long as the method being taught is safe and effective then there should be no stipulation on it. Since REP'S was introduced, as much as I think it is good to keep its members keeping abreast of current trends and new research, it is very annoying that I have to resit a new qualification in fitness just because it is not recognised in the UK yet it is the equivalent of a degree and worth so much more than the new one I have to sit......just because of people cashing in on the back end of this

Most definitely no one organisation should have the control over Pilates. I have attended many courses with different bodies and my knowledge has broadened as a result. No one way is the correct way!

this is a definite No .. and this happened once before one organisation trying to be the only authority on Pilates .Iat the time was on the Exercise england sports council for the Fitness Industry which unfortuantely was disbanded by the FIA as we were nt profit making we all gave our time to help create guidelines in safe effective exercise and fitness programmes. I was on this comittee fior 3 years.. and there was a request that one training body was the control of Pilates in the Uk .. at that time I was assisting Michael King with his training programme .I stepped in to say what about all the others and rolled off a group of teaching companiesand individuals in pilates. It was unamourous decision that no one could be the only sole trainersof pilates of the only sole advisors on standards. it was then thatn I spent 2 years trying to get all various training companies to talk and help create standards this work was crashed when Exercise England disbanded... now the power game starts again .its a definite No !
