I am a birder and worry about loss of habitats for our local birds. Please don't give away this valuable habitats used by Bald Eagles.

Please locate the trail as far as possible from the Bald Eagles. Make the right decision and place the trail next to the railroad tracks. Protect these majestic birds. So much has been achieved to clean up Onondaga Lake. How fortunate we are to have them return!

I fully support protecting Murphy's Island as a permanent sanctuary for bald eagles. There is already enough public access to Onondaga Lake that there is no justification for impinging on what little space remains for this recovering, previously endangered, species.

The contamination from toxic cancer causing chemicals should have flagged the stupidity of this trail. People will go off trail. Pets wills go off trail. I am surprised the eagles have not been checked for chemical toxicity.

I had the understanding that it was normal practice by New York State to identify and restrict access to known eagle roosting and nesting areas. The proposed trail plans by the county would be definitely counter to the objectives espoused by the state. I hope that the state and county put heir heads together and develop a suitable plan. To have an undisturbed roosting site would be a plus for both the county and Syracuse and the county should strive to preserve it.
