Many Foreign nations shipping goods to Canada and the United States enter the Great Lakes via the St. Lawrence River. When they enter, many ships pump out all their waste, ie toilet and kitchen waste or anything else poured down the ship's hold, and scoop up our clean Great Lake water and transport it back to foreign countries. Also, Nestle has been bottling water from the Great Lakes and selling it at $4/gallon vs. the 1 cent/gallon for the same water we get in our taps from the same source. There are no laws governing water bottling companies as to how the water is treated, if at all before bottling,as opposed to the laws governing our nations that supply the same water through our taps.
Lithium (anti-psychotic drug for some mental illnesses, makes people calm) and uranium are found in our Great Lakes water. Solution: force all foreign vessels to stop in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and offload cargo shipments to U.S and Canada using domestic Laker ships to finish the delivery process to our nations. It creates jobs on both sides of the border, and keeps us from ingesting contaminated water made so by the discharging of holding tanks from other countries. The water levels in the Great Lakes is dropping fast, affecting agriculture and wildlife. We can all live happier, cleaner and safer lives. It is time to take action - RIGHT NOW!
