The insurance companies in Texas have decided not to offer Child-Only health insurance policies. This means that hundreds of thousands of grandparents raising grandchildren cannot obtain health insurance for their grandchildren unless the children are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP. If a family is over the income level for Medicaid or CHIP there are NO OPTIONS for child-only insurance except short term policies which do not cover pre-existing conditions. Our state legislature can solve this problem and require insurance companies to provide major medical insurance for our children.   This petition asks the Texas State Legislature to correct this situation before tragedies occur because our children have no insurance.
