Culling does not work, it spreads bTB and causes suffering of injured badgers. It's also not cost effective. Vaccination works.

The pilot badger culls have been a failure; have resulted in the unnecessary killing of 940 badgers in West Somerset at an estimated cost of £4,100 per badger - £3,854,000. They will not have helped farmers with the problem of bTB in their cattle and have been divisive and split members of local communities. Vaccinating badgers until cattle vaccination is a reality has none of these negative issues and there is a growing band of well trained, willing volunteer waiting to help.

This cull is not effective enough to justify it - too much scientific uncertainty to kill thousands of protected species - at best they say 16% reduction in incidence of TB in cattle.

As a Somerset woman, I abhor the waste of life caused by the killing, the casual cruelty and the disregard of scientific opinion.

Surely vaccination has to be cheaper and more effective than culling.

We need to stop slaughtering our beautiful badgers so that our grandchildren may enjoy them in the future. It's shocking and inhumange.

Vaccination is cheap, humane and will not include huge policing costs and unrest.

The pilot culled proved to be a disaster. Vaccinate the badgers and teach farmers good husbandry.

We expect Taunton Deane Borough Council to recognise the futility of culling badgers and the serious harm it is doing to local communities. As representatives of these communities the council can support farming and wildlife by vaccinating badgers on council owned and controlled land.

Pointless butchery when more effective and humane solutions for all concerned are available.

Te badger cull is rediculous. They are carrying a BOVINE diseas. Stop inbreeding cattle and feeding them bits of each other an their wouldn't be such a problem. Our wonderful British wildlife is suffering and we should be protecting it!

The current concerns around Defra's inability to accurately record Btb in cattle clearly shows that future culling of badgers will not be able to determine if culls make a difference. Not that they do as all the scientific evidence suggest.

The Badger Cull programme has been a disastrous waste of money. Please accept public opinion and support an alternative strategy.

Please do not continue with this disasterous and flawed badger cull. All the scientific evidence says if will not work and the farmers deserve better.
