Yeah mate, the people of Colchester walk under the statue of the Emperor Claudius or even Boadicea both owned slaves as it has been the norm as opposed to the exception since the dawn of time. We were enslaved by the Romans then they left and the Saxons enslaved tens of thousands of us and then the Vikings enslaved tens of thousands of the Saxons... you see where I am going with this? It is history. In this case our history but it ain't black slavery and that is the only one that counts. None of our black community were brought here as slaves. They came here for a better life and to drive the buses when we invited them in the 1950's and 60's. They got that better life thanks to people like Clive and Churchill and Nelson and Drake the self same people they want us to get rid of. They are the people that made this a rich and successful country that they wanted to come too. If they could not live with our history then maybe they should not have come to a country with such a shameful past. Even though there is nothing remotely shameful about the Empire as I would say the Commonwealth proves. All those countries we conquered and oppressed joining an organisation whose sole aim is to celebrates that membership of Empire. No, BLM have just hijacked the cause of somebody else and twisted it out of hate. They hate white people. They want us to be ashamed. Ashamed of ourselves and ashamed of everything we are so that they can finally demand what they are really after. Notice they have not asked for anything? What is it they want that will make things better. They wont say because there is nothing reasonable left to do we have done it all already. The only racism left in this country is occupational. You know the sort of thing. A girls parents do not want her bringing back a black fella but you cannot legislate against that as it is in the mind so what law can change it. Besides in my experience when the worst happens and the daughter brings home a black guy they get used to i

The worst part is it is all a lie. What do these people think was happening before the British arrived? Take India. Well, for a start there was no such thing. It was only after the British united all India that a sense of Indian nationhood came to pass. Next, we did not conquer India as t was already conquered and occupied. The largest of the various states that made up India was the Sultanate of Delhi which had been conquered by the Mughals several hundred years earlier. They were Islamic invaders from central Asia (Kazaksthan and environs) and had conquered much of Northern and western India, removed the Hindu rulers and made the Hindu locals second class citizens under the Muslim invaders.. The centre was the Mahratta Confederation. A mass of War Lords and Rajahs and Maharajahs constantly fighting amongst themselves using armies of untrained peasants with no choice but to go into battle armed with farm implements to be fodder for the well armed warbands of the rulers on both sides. It was a total hell hole of chaos and warfare where your entire life was at the whim of your absolute ruler. The rest of India was a few bigger Principalities like the Nizam of Hyderabad and the famous Tippoo Sultan of Seringapatam and of course the areas already seized by the French and Dutch who had arrived long before us. We united this chaotic hell hole and brought peace for the peasants and a judiciary, one where a native may have trouble beating a European admittedly but one in which we must remember that over 98% of the cases were native vs native and for the first time ever the peasants could take their conflicts and disputes to a fair hearing. Previously they had been at the mercy of whatever Nizam, Maharajah or plain Bandit chief controlled their area and they would have got the justice they paid for. The biggest bribe would win and both would bribe so the Lord got paid twice..... We brought schools and roads, hospitals and railroads. Indian peasants got their kids into schoo

This is all insane and MUST stop. We are a proud nation because we have a proud history. BLM is rubbish it is revisionist and ridiculous to judge historical characters and events by modern values and morality. No one would suggest Mongolia remove statues of Genghis Khan but he was one of the greatest mass murderers of history. That is what this is history and we should be proud of it. If we are going to have this debate lets tell the truth. Firstly, what do these people think was going on in these countries before we arrived. Many were literally starving year on year, enslaved by their neighbours and even their own Chieftains bloody wars between tribes and petty Kingdoms were endemic. Once we arrived all that death and war stopped. We gave them a judicial system which meant for the first time they could go to court with their problems rather than rely on the local Warlord, Petty King or chief whose decisions would mostly be based on who paid the largest bribe or simply arbitrary to amuse himself. We built schools roads hospitals and railroads. We brought peace and relative prosperity. Obviously if a native went to court against a European he might not get justice but remember that the vast majority of cases (about 99.64%) were between natives and for the first time the poor could expect justice against the rich. We imported food when there was a famine and medicine of there was an epidemic. Most natives were so very much better off under the Empire it was literally a sea change for the lower classes who invariably supported the Empire. Most of the troops we used were locals. The only people that did not like it and led rebellions and revolts were there own royalty and aristocracy that had enjoyed absolute power of life and death over everybody and wanted it back. That is the truth of the Empire and we should be rightly proud of it. The confirmation of all this is in the Commonwealth. How many countries that were part of the Empire are still members of the Commonwea

STAND UP AND PROTECT OUR HERITAGE

Our heritage should not be dictated by immigrants who have no understanding of British culture or history. Good or bad we must remember the past so we do not repeat the bad in the future.

As usual those with the loudest voices get their way but this behaviour is creating more division. These people are part of our history for good or bad and they belong to the nation not a small percentage of activists. Perhaps someone ought to make a legal challenge as to whether anyone, university or council have a right to rmove statues which morally belong to all of us.
