Wassumkeag (“Sear’s Island”) should be a protected historical preservation site, not destroyed for industry.

It is so important to save all the green space that we can. It is unconscionable to choose Sears Island over Mack Point!!

I worked as a surveyor locating the vernal pools on the island. It is a rare treasure to have that expanse of land and uninterrupted natural beauty. How can we be so shortsighted to spoil it

One of the most important reasons to save Sears Island is because the trees there are so valuable as carbon sinks. It makes no sense to cut down trees to make way for industry of any kind, but especially for alternative energy. Let's not destroy the environment to save the environment.

Sears Island is a valuable resource for the people of Maine, especially the mid coast region. The natural resources of the island, the tourism value, and the local attraction is hard to quantify, but is substantial.

A clear justification as to why to not use the existing port infrastructure is needed. It is aways easier to expand an existing brownfield than a greenfield operation. Short term cost savings does not make sense especially when expanding current port infrastructure will lead to longer term job gains and port usage.

I see no reason why all of this could not be completed on Mack Point. It makes absolutely no sense. The infrastructure is already there and could be expanded on right on Mack Point if needed.

They really must choose Mack Point. Sears Island is a treasure for all that must be protected and preserved now and for the future.
