More roads will not fix the problem, but exasperate it. Why don’t we make the existing bypass more efficient by building an overpass at Hickleys corner. This will resolve two traffic issues.
Firstly, by allowing eastbound traffic to turn right this would enable us to drive between north and south farnham without driving through the centre.
Secondly, the overpass could extend over the train line and prevent the build up of traffic at the crossing.
Why destroy the beautiful surrounding countryside, a key attraction of Farnham, when this does not achieve anything apart from drawing more traffic to the area.

We must protect our rural and green environment. We cannot sacrifice this green and biodiverse space when it is so essential to our environment, wellbeing, mental health and sense of place. There are other better solutions - particularly addressing the snarl points on the A31. For this money you could build a tunnel / fly over at the South Street/A31 junction. Please listen to our community voice - this road is not wanted or a worth while solution.

Farnham traffic systems needs monitoring & improving with a huge impetus on walking and cycling, and park & ride/walk options implemented. We shouldn't be adding miles of tarmac and encouraging more car transport at such huge environmental cost, when protecting the environment is so high on everyone's agenda.

Madness. What was the A331 for, and the Farnham Bypass? Councillors should be discouraging more cars, not promoting more tarmac. Who knows what the future holds for transport in 30 years time, and the way we work.

Surely we should be discouraging the use of cars over the next decade - especially private cars. If money is spent on making public transport more accessible, affordable and frequent people wouldn't want to use their cars.

The stated policy objective in the OIP is to reduce reliance on cars. These proposals do the opposite. Where is the future vision? Level 5 autonomous vehicles being tested today!

This proposal is not in anyone’s best interests. It’s a large & costly plan which is likely to increase traffic into the Farnham area rather than ease it. Improving the existing A31 Farnham Bypass where it crosses South St/Station Hill would be a cheaper, easier, more effective and much less destructive solution.

I feel so lucky to live within walking distance of our beautiful town and also within equal walking distance to the beautiful surrounding countryside. Please do not destroy our countryside, it is being enjoyed by many and I am sure helps with our mental health.

To build a road across this area of fields and ancient woodland full of flora and fauna is totally at odds with the climate emergency that we are currently facing. Surely nature should be preserved and not destroyed to make way for vehicles and the pollution that comes with them.
