I sent my children to group lessons held in the centre and didn't learn anything. I have a child that needs one to one tutiton. He has problems following instructions and retaining information.

Learning to swim is such an important skill that may not only save lives but help to encourage children to keep swimming for health reasons too. The council lessons are always oversubscribed and it is not easy to get to the leisure centre on a specific date to try and book into the lessons. This system is unfair to people who live outside the town. The private lessons increase the choice of lesson times to fit in with busy family schedules and once enrolled with the teacher, your child's place is reserved for as long as you require. Our 3 children have benefitted greatly from their lessons and surely the greater numbers of children taught to swim will increase the number of people wishing to use the council pool in the future. The teachers are extremely dedicated and to suddenly remove their right to teach in our pool is completely wrong.
private lessons are not a luxury they are a necessity for adults and kids who learn better in smaller groups. Swimming is great skill to have as you get older and guarantees more use of the facilities
