Protect Our Students' Free Speech at Walton High School

As a high school teacher, I want to let that student know that he or she is not alone in this fight.

ignorance and intolerance must always be fought from the beginning.

As adults we need to deal with the reality that when a man is elected who has said and done things like Trump has about women and minorities that it's going to strike a sense of discord in them. Because if our children treated other people in this manner most of us would correct and chastise them, not elect them.

This is a wonderful thing... Our children come first always...Now for sure

Are you people not listening ??! this is America, for everyone .

Either you ban all politically oriented clothing, or none.

Fairness and tolerance are important life lessons. Do not let these principles leave our schools.

All speech is protected under Amendment 1, not only speech that supports the status quo. To be a truly comprehensive school, you have to allow (and teach students to allow) for all perspectives. There is a line between free speech and hate speech, and this is not it.

It is vitally import the every student, whether their views are considered "mainstream" or "controversial," are given equal protection to express those views in a peaceful and respectful manner. The lessons we teach our children today are the choices they, as adults, will make tomorrow. Respectful discussion and equality are some of the most important lessons we can share. I hope WHS decides to use this as a teachable moment for the community to bring students together, building bridges and not walls.

As a family zoned to Walton HS, we are very concerned with these allegations. A police officer on record saying her " opinion was not shared by the majority of Americans because they voted" should absolutely not be tolerated. Make a policy where political attire is not permitted, or allow everyone to express themselves. Shame on you Walton.

Ashamed of The bad example for Our Kids

All should be banned or none. If the item meets the school dress code guidelines then it must be allowed.

Walton cares more about test scores then its actual students.

All students should be allowed to express their political views. One or a few students should not be singled out. Freedom of Speech should be allowed for ALL students.

We must teach our next generation of voters and leaders to hear, consider, and then criticize differing points of view thoughtfully.

Freedom of speech for ALL..not just those whose message you like! If you allow any political attire...then all should be allowed
