The permit has been officially rescinded after all this time. I am drained from the fight but relieved to know our local water is safe for now. We will keep watching the DEC to make sure this stays protected.

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has granted the Village of Kiryas Joel a permit that will allow the withdrawal of 612,000 gallons of water per day from the Mountainville Well #1 post and transported it to their Village.

We believe that DEC has granted this permit based on insufficient evaluations of the environmental and ecological impact the withdrawal of this magnitude will have on our residential and town wells, on the emergency water supplies, our firefighting capacity, our local wildlife and future growth of the community.

By taking a minute to sign off on our petition, your support will allow Protect Our Resources Hudson Valley (PORHV) to advocate for the preservation of the Woodbury and Moodna Creek Watershed of Hudson Valley.

We, the residents of Cornwall NY and the surrounding communities, hereby petition the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) of the State of New York, and our elected government officials, to delay or rescind the permit granted until further studies have been conducted to determine if the withdrawal amount is sustainable by local watershed.

Reaching this level of support has been exhausting yet necessary for our work to protect the watershed. I am drained by the fight against these officials but seeing your commitment makes me realize we cannot stop now.

KJ 610,000 gpd, Woodbury 600,000 gpd, Highland Stone 350,000 or 460,000 gpd, no impact on Woodbury Creek a CT(S) trout spawning? Say Goodbye Trout Stream!

I was at the DEC hearing at Cornwall High School and could not believe, after all the testimony and evidence, you granted in favor of KJ! That was a slap in the face to everyone else!

Orange County legislature, Town of Monroe outside condultants, numerous independent studies have all concluded that the permission to grant Kiryas Joel withdrawal of Mountainville well #1 water would be harmful to the water levels, the sewer plant and an abundance of other infrastructure. Please, reverse this decision. You have not considered all the ramifications!

When will the DEC actually protect the environment? This permitting of the well is detrimental to the environment, negatively impact homeowners on wells utilizing the aquifer, and other communities dependent upon the aquifer.

Water resources are already strained in many communities! The DEC permit that allows this withdrawal must be challenged in numbers! Cuomo needs to know we are a voting force to be reckoned with!

I find this decision unconscionable. The DEC knows from it's own experience how little the Village of KJ officials obey environmental laws. This decision, once again smacks of corruption and goes against the interests of all of the people in Orange County NY.

The DEC used to be a great watchdog, now its just the Governor's puppet division of our corrupt NYS government. Anything the bloc vote wants they get!
