Protect Our Constitutional Rights in Manti, Utah

This public street is the gathering ground for free speech. The LDS church wants to take that right away.

If this happens what's next?

I have been to Manti for 9 years. The interactions and friendships I have established are amazing. A private corporation purchasing a city street is against the essence of the 1st amendment. The freedom to openly share one's faith is vital to the continuing of the 1st amendment.

The street in Manti that the church wants closed has been an honest and respectful place of self-expression for many years. Please do not let this disappear. If it does freedom of speech and thought will be harmed; something the church of Christ of Latter Day Saints has desired and acted upon for many years

Freedom of speech must be honnered!

Selling the Manti city street to the LDS church is an infringement on my personal first amendment rights. As a resident of Sanpete County I am strongly against the sale of the street.

I have been to Manti for the past 4 summers during Pageant. I live in Tennessee.

Please do allow a religious institution make claims to public property.

If we the people will not be allowed to speak on the street after the sale of the street, then the LDS church is against free speech. For what other reason does the church need it for?

Keep the freedom of Speech and Religion open.

A public street should be just that -- PUBLIC.

The only true reason is to limit access to that area. If they purchased it then they could you cannot come on private property LDS church has done the same thing in Provo in Salt Lake City to my knowledge. All to limit access to non-mormons. By purchasing this property they are denying people their right to freedom of speech their right of assembly under the law. They should not be allowed to use their unlimited resources money to bully people that do not believe as they do.

Public streets are for the public --no matter their political or religious views. No church should own the streets!

Public roads should not be owned by any one person or organization.

I forgot to mention that I live in San Antonio Texas and have been to the pageant every year since 2000 (17 years). We have a letter from a former Manti Stake President THANKING us for our efforts in lowering contention and bringing a "Christian-like feeling" to the pageant.

The LDS is acting as an usurpator and not a church. Why a church need properties and buildings shopping malls, and now a street just to close it and prevent people from meeting in there? This has nothing to do with Christianity LDS claims or wants to be. Don't sell them a public property to make it yet another trophy into their wealth collection.

I have been to the Manti Pageant 4 years and have formed many friendships.

I'm personally tired of the LDS Church trampling upon people and their rights and freedoms. It's not a one-way street.

Does not the Article of Faith # 11 for the LDS Church State: "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and ALLOW ALL MEN THE SAME PRIVILEGE, let them worship how, where, or what they may." Keeping the LDS faith accountable to it's own specified conviction.
