We need more police, better courts and firm action by our government.

My 1997 Honda CRV was stolen 10/24/20. I was assaulted by a tenant where I live on 01/27/21. There was no effort to find who stole my vehicle. The tenant who assaulted me was not charged even though he admitted he did to police and I had a witness. I’m also concerned about the homeless situation in our city and their need for assistance. Now I ride the bus and can focus on the homelessness in our city since I don’t have to focus on driving. Tacoma, like the rest of the country, is deteriorating at a very fast rate. Of course this is, in part, due to COVID

This city is moving backwards not forward....I haven't seen it this bad since the 1990s..... We want action (not talking) and we demand it now. When a whole city is fed up. It's time to make some changes!! Hats off to our community for stepping up to address these real concerns. I applaud

We need more police to keep our city safer. The budget needs to put money towards the areas that are making our City an embarrassment. I remember when you could walk downtown without feeling scared. The homeless in our city keeps growing, It is hard not to see it when you go downtown. When you see all the money raised to help people with their rent that still had jobs and a roof over their heads given money with no expectation to repay it makes me so disappointed in our community. Why can't they recover some of that money and put it towards the homeless population?

Business owner and resident personally affected by violent crime this last year. I support this petition, and am so disappointed in a city that I am now ready to leave.

Stunning degradation of the law….I sincerely hope our voices will be acknowledged but feel our council and executive are seriously outnumbered!

The homeless population is getting dangerously out of control. We cannot sit by and do nothing. We need to house people and get them the help they need. People in power have had enough time to look at the problems...do something. When a person is allowed to walk into a store, load up a shopping cart and walk out the door without paying and with no consequences, something is very wrong. Something has to be done. The sooner the better because safety issues in Tacoma are getting much worse.

There is a very long wait for a response time, the homeless are becoming more and more aggressive and the drug abuse is happening right in the open.

It is inhumane what we are having to deal with. The tax payers of Tacoma are not being protected, the homeless are. We need to open our Jail again! We are the only County in all of Washington with their jail still closed? During the pandemic they legalized drugs as personal possession, limited the Dome District to 4 cops per-shift, and allowed homeless to take over our City. Recipe for disaster! Business everywhere with boarded up windows. Arsine is up 290%! Over 100 drive-by's in the last year alone. Gangs are a issue for Tacoma again and the City council doesn't want to discuss it because they think it makes them look bad. We are setting the future of Tacoma up for failure. These issues are so much bigger than we realize. How many business and home will sustain? I am here to help anyway that I can!

Car break ins, prowlers in the neighborhood; it’s getting scary to go out when I used to not worry about going out well after dark.

The Tacoma City Council, Mayor and City Manager must act to reduce the inhumane, unsanitary and sordid conditions in homeless encampments that thrive on sidewalks in commercial and residential neighborhoods. Tacoma must control the noise, garbage and violence that homeless camps inflict on the homes abd businesses that border them. Simply saying it is a complex matter and doing nothing is not an option and not a reason that the public elected its officials. Tacoma needs (1) to create safe encampments for the homeless; (2) and/or follow Seattle’s lead and buy buildings such as hotels to house them and provide services; and (3) institute rent regulation to stem evictions that crest homelessness.
