We must recognize that Tacoma is mainly experiencing an addiction and mental health crisis, not an affordable housing crisis. Addicts are coming to Tacoma from all over the country because our city council chooses to enable people to live this lifestyle. It's both inhumane and is leading to the escalation of both violent and nonviolent crimes in the city. Without recognizing the core cause of these encampments, the more the city spends on this issue the worse the problem will get.

Failing to charge and book people for property crimes in an effort to reduce Covid exposure in the jail and courts has created a far more urgent community safety concern of rapidly increasing crime and a sense among criminals that their crimes will continue to go unpunished. I am frequently seeing people booked into jail for serious violent crimes that may not have occurred had they been charged and held on one of their many non-violent crimes that led up to it this past 18 months. The jail must re-start booking for non-violent crimes and the prosecutors must restart full charging.

I want to see our crime go down, homeless encampment not tolerated and our leaders to support our police.

Council members and especially for Mayor Woodards, please protect our family, our safety, and saving our great city. Stop protecting the criminal intent. Stand up our citizens, period.

Thank-you for stepping in taking action on this issue. It is unconscionable that the Council and Mayor Mayor have forced the homeless to live in squalor on our streets.

Police no longer respond or arrest anyone unless there is violence. In many cases, Police will not respond - period! We are on our own! What has happened to Tacoma? I've heard that the Mayor is directly responsible for telling the Police not to arrest anyone unless there is violence. If true, the Mayor should be voted out of office!
None of this would ever happen under President Trump!
Let's Go Brandon!
