We need more police help. My store was robbed three times in a year. I'm in Tacoma.

The city needs to take measured, targeted actions to address our problems. The leaps into lunacy are embarrassing at best and dangerous at worst. Each of the steps outlined in this petition has more thought behind it than many current initiatives of city departments at behest of poorly conceived council initiatives

Tacoma needs to move back to an active liaison program and working with property owners to help resolve the crimes taking place to their businesses and livelihood.

I moved here from Texas and I lived in one of the safest cities in the US. I'm embarrassed to have out of town guests. Tacoma has become sad, full of crime and homelessness. If I wasn't married with kids, I'd move.

We want a greater police presence to deter crime. Let's enforce all existing laws, including stealing shopping carts and sleeping on city streets. Watch what Seattle does, and then do the exact opposite so that we can reclaim our city.

Armed robbery in Proctor today. I had three fine police officers pulling security camera footage of car speeding through my residential street, just a block away from Washington Elementary. Enough.

The lack of police presence is evident in our everyday lives, and as someone who was physically assaulted in the Proctor District in the middle of the afternoon and could not get any police (911) response ("was i hurt and did the assailant have a weapon")-- there is a real need for increased police patrols...

I'm a criminal defense attorney who supports the decriminalization of drug possession, the conversion of some crimes to infractions and a more empathetic and sensible system in general but since Covid hit pure insanity has reigned and the result have been atrocious for the community and my clients.
You can support smarter/more humane policing without supporting stupidity.
I would add that there needs to be a restoration of inperson services for those who are incarcerated yet don't get the benefit of counsel except on the phone. At a certain point we're going to have to decide if the Sixth Amendment can survive this pandemic

Looking forward to retirement when I can sell my house and get out of Tacoma. Sadly the crime rate and homeless encampment on my street will probably kill a large part of the equity I worked so hard to build
This is so important to save Tacoma!
