Small business owner and tired of the unsafe conditions in which I work....homeless encampments, open drug use, crime, etc.....

I am sick of hearing gun shots and seeing trash along the side of every road. Camping on the street isn’t safe for the campers or residents, and especially not around elementary schools.

It is time to hold our elected officials accountable for allowing homeless advocates to dictate to our neighbors and neighborhoods where homeless encampment can be placed.

I am a business owner who moved my business from downtown due to poor management at Court House Square and crime. I agree in what you are doing and would love to get involved.

Very disappointed in the city council’s decision to not reinstate the camping ban this week. The residential buildings on the waterfront are dealing with rampant crime and the city is doing nothing about it. I know many people that are about to move away if things don’t get better soon. Shame on you city leadership. Our city is turning into Pioneer Square in Seattle. Will the last tax payer in Tacoma turn off the lights when they leave? The people that don’t pay taxes are in charge.

I have moved from my house in Tacoma as of last week, and have learned that my tenants car was just stolen in their first week of occupying the home. It is now 8 hours and no police to help with the report, preventing my tenant from filing with their insurance company for a rental car.
When I visited my house last month, I called the police two times: One, for suspicious behavior of a man walking onto peoples' lawns / yards. Two, for a family whose car was broken into within 30 minutes of them parking at the Chinese Reconciliation Park, taking all of their children's paperwork.
A month before that, I called in at 2 am for gunshots heard near the neighborhood.
Please take the crime seriously and devise a plan using the increased taxes being funded by property and business owners that will help to get the city of Tacoma on the right track.
The impact that this is having is too much to write in one post. Tacoma needs people passionate and invested in rehabilitating the area and putting safety as a top priority.

Leaders need to do something ASAP! It’s so sad what is going on, we have had several criminal incidents around our building from arson, to threats to our life, criminal activity and drugs and City a leaders aren’t doing anything!! We called police so many times with no response until it’s too late and were told we will need to protect ourselves! City leaders do something before it is too late. I feel like they don’t care and just letting evil just reign. So frustrating, it’s becoming so dangerous for our families and businesses

We need more police officers, we need to more funding for our police and we need tougher policing. Do whatever it takes to make Tacoma safer! It’s insane that crime is this high here!

Tacoma residents and businesses cannot thrive in a community that lacks basic core public safety measures. This safety ensures stability for all Tacoma families and businesses. We urge the Mayor and City Council to make needed changes to protect and secure our communities with compassion and empathy but also with accountability.

Reinforce the camping ban. I'm sick of getting robbed and the police not being able to do anything because they can't arrest the homeless people.
