Carey's Bus Service should NOT be given this contract. He put it in his son's & daughter's names, but I think "he will still be running the show."

To the school board and to any indivual that might think this petition is unfair: The non-arms length transfer of ownership in Carey's Bus Service did very little to resolve this issue. Thomas Carey can still control and operate this company as he did in the past. Smoke and Mirrors!!!! Shame on the school board for accepting this arrangement.

We can not name call parents who used the only bussing system
available to get their children to school. We also can not assume that they were okay with it. Even if parents were complaining there was a pardon granted which greatly changes things for how parents may have felt and what could have been done then. We can speak to none of that. Also, not speaking up in the past, if that was the case, doesn't take away their right to do it now. It is never too late to do the right thing. It is a tragedy that his family is probably suffering as much as his victims but this is not about them, unfortunately. I know that some
Of his family are beautiful, kind people. Even if contact could be absolutely severed between him and the children who will be taking the busses, the ghosts of this company will live forever. It was awful that this company ever existed and made profit in a community that was victimized.

Agree! When someone receives a pardon from the Parole Board of Canada their record is clean and they are the same as you or I, Kelli. To speak against them would have resulted in truly innocent people possibly having charges brought against them by our justice system and this pedophile. The majority of our community were not even aware you could receive a pardon for raping children! This man went to prison, received a pardon and financially flourished. Thank you to all concerned citizens for signing this petition and showing our children that we will protect them!

For the uninformed and misinformed...the NLESD completed their own investigation and concluded that Tom Carey did drive a school bus (Jan. 2015) despite assurances from his son and daughter (new directors) to parents and government/board officials that that he would have nothing else to do with the business and no access to it. They LIED!

As adults, as parents we have a right to protect children!! As the NLESD, you should know better than to let this continue to happen. Would you want YOUR child, your niece, your nephew, your grandchild riding a bus when you know that a known pedophile who had his pardon revoked is handling the buses in some way indirectly or directly!! You as a board should be ashamed of yourself -- child protection should be involved in this case -- why? because YOU, the NLESD is not doing what you are suppose to be doing -- PROTECTING THE CHILDREN!!

Thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to help protect children. The signatures on our petition continue to grow. We are speaking loudly for those who cannot.
Please do not let Government and NLESD officials stop you from taking action to see these contracts cancelled. Call and email your MHA if you live on the Southern Shore. His name by the way is Keith Hutchings. Would he demand cancellation of these contracts if he lived here and he needed safe busing for his two children?
This negligence cannot remain unchecked any longer and we are the only ones who can stop it! As parents, we know this is not a complex issue... A violent child sex offender drove a school bus. Cancel the contracts! Nothing complex about it.

Anyone with a criminal record has no place being close to a child or involved with anything that is connected with children. But if this company is now in ownership by the Daughter and the Son, I don’t understand the problem. I have watched this daughter care for autistic children with such compassion and patience’s, I have watched the same autistic children have a genuine emotional reaction to her. I have seen school children responded to her with huge hugs and smiles.
I have watch her talk to little children when they were upset and have seen her discipline children in such a respectful way, and not once have I ever heard her complain about her job but have heard many times how much she loves her work.
As a parent of 3 children I completely understand the concern, and I have heard of the pain that has been created. But what do people think will be resolved if they take this business from the “Son and Daughter”. All my children have ridden the school bus in Witless bay it has been reliable, consistence and not once did I ever feel that my children would be in danger. NOT ONCE
If someone has committed a crime they should be punished and have to carry that shame for the rest of their life but what is gained by talking an innocence’s persons ( The Son & Daughter)livelihood away.
What I find even more hypocritical is most of the people who are complaining about the ownership of the bus service has always know the stories and the owner personally but yet they still let their children ride this bus service everyday for years and years.
So now that they are no longer in need of the service anymore they have decided to throw their stones.
Was the children’s safety not a priority back then!!!!!
