Protect the small farmers...

Organic means ORGANIC, and nothing less!

Yes, DEMAND !!! I want to buy ORGANIC food, not hydroponic. You can also require the food has a HYDROPONICally -grown LABEL.

Be honest with the public.

Soil is the basis of mineral-rich organic farming. Mixing in and spraying man-made chemicals is not and should not be counted organic.

This is utter crap. If you aren't building soils, you are destroying them. The USDA has done enough destruction. Now it knows better, it needs to do better.

Artificially-grown plants are not "organic" in any meaningful sense of the word, just as GMO species are not "natural". You think that by officially redefining existing words in the dictionary you can fool somebody? We'll find out which pseudo-foods are hydroponically grown and make our purchase decisions based on our own judgement NOT YOURS.

Keep organics in the soil

I guess the USDA is just full of nincompoops, believing organic food is derived only after having grown in soil is "fake news." Just like their "leader," I suppose.

Any hydroponic product I have ever eaten has felt completely lacking substance and tasted like colored water. There is NOTHING in those products our bodies need- except the water.

I pay more for organic and that's what I want.

Hydroponics is NOT ORGANIC. Hydroponically grown food should be label as such,. The same goes for GMO's

Food grown without soil should Never be allowed to carry the organic label. I refuse to buy anything that I know to be hydroponically grown, regardless of the “organic” label.

Don't try to change the definition of organic. Stop lying to consumers.

I thought organic certification was for crops naturally grown in soil. This certification is another compromise of those standards to benefit corporate growers at the expense of small farmers. Why does USDA have it in for the people? What a cesspool.

Hydroponic products are not covered by organic certification requirements and should never receive organic certification. If USDA is going to weigh in on their quality, those products should have a good-practices certification completely separate from organics--one that includes, for instance, absence of glyphosate in the growing environment.

Hydroponics misses the boat totally! Organic is about the microbial soil life and the dense nutrients the soil provides! And then there are many technics which recycle compounds back into the system.

Just protect mother Nature !!
