I worked on a hydroponic farm until I realized it felt wrong on many levels. It is certainly a convenient method so from a business perspective I understand why it’s growing in popularity but it felt like selling the illusion of health foods to people which felt wrong. Best of luck with your mission I am 100% supportive

Despite corporate, political, government agencies or industry claims of what they deem organic to be. I want transparency in labeling and I want non-GMO organic food grown in the soil and free of pesticides.

It is just not what I wanat when I am buying organic. The soil and the diversity it encourages are part of organic.

To farm well requires deep listening and great courtesy towards all creatures on this earth. Hydroponic farming is narrowly focussed on the financial bottom line and thereby ignores the wellness of everyone and everything else. We must choose for Real Organic food production.

As a certified organic grower: my emphasis is on soil life and soil development: and I often feel that the certification system as it now exists IS just a marketing tool. My customers know what we do to grow beautiful, nutrient-dense food...and that is what keeps me re-certifying each year...because the standard has been diluted to accommodate Big OG AG. And if we don't maintain advocacy: chemical companies masquerading as 'sustainable ag' companies will continue to pressure to have GMO's included in the organic standard. As consumers we should be able to trust the law. As producers we should be able to feel the NOSB has our back.

What penalties are in place for businesses that falsely claim or label their products as organic? Who is checking? Its not hard to believe that big corporations have the USDA on a tether. There is too much money at stake and clearly the wrong people are at the top who are more interested in personal wealth than the health and well-being of the general public. I think it also boils down to a lack of consumer education and those willing to speak up. I believe what the Real Organic Project is doing is very commendable and although I may not be able to assist financially at this time, I would be interested in contributing my skills as a designer and marketer if they are needed. Let me know.

It is hard to believe that people entrusted to protect the organic label are actually selling out to the lobby of hydroponics and confinement operations. Shame on you. Fight for us consumers who deserve true organics.
