Protect Organic- Prohibit Hydroponics

Hydroponics has its place in growing food, but not in the organic market.

I definitely want to know if my organic produce is grown in soil. I love the idea of Real Organic and knowing if something is organic plus; biodynamic farming and permaculture are important.

Testing

It should take dirt to be certified organic.

Follow the law! Stop certifying as organic all hydroponically-grown fruits and vegetables .

Feed the soil, Save the bugs Get your lawn off drugs

Additionally, true organic agriculture sequesters carbon as it builds the complexity of the soil. The world would take a significant action in addressing global warming by switching back to organic farming.

I want my food food to be produced naturally, as plants in nature grow.

Organic means it comes from the soil.

Organic food should be grown in chemical free/organic soil!

Keep fighting

Please keep the requirement for soil- grown in the organic label. I’m not opposed to eating hydroponically grown food — but I want to know that I’m choosing it. I choose soil-grown organic whenever possible because to raise nutritious food, a farmer must work with the soil to improve it — which is better for health of the farmer, for the world, and for me, the eater. I very much need transparency when I shop.

You will always find corruption when you follow the money.

We are a small 20 acre farm certified Organic family farm. Please protect the Organic Label as this is this important for my commjnity and the future of rural agriculture. Please make the symbol stronger.

Hydroponically grown fruit and vegetables are fake organics. I prefer to avoid them. Hydrophonics should be labeled as Hydrophonically Grown Produce. All USDA labels should honest and transparent. Thank you for your consideration.
