Protect Organic- Prohibit Hydroponics

NO hydroponically grown produce should ever be certified as organic. These are inferior products, and the public is being hoodwinked by a government agency that should be protecting us.

Bring integrity back into our system. Sustainable organic and regenerative farming is NOT CAFO's and hydroponics.

The truth is elusive these days we must persist in revealing it and standing by it.

When we know so little about all of the interactions that happen between plants and the soil it's hubris to think we can just add a few of the knowable components to water and call it organic! I strongly oppose the classifying of hydroponically produced food as organic.

Yep.organic food is grown in Soil.

I strongly oppose hydroponic production to be labeled organic. It dos not meet the basic definition in The national organic rule that defines organic.

The right to healthy food grown in good soil and illuminated by real sunlight is the promise of the USDA Organic label. The USDA must uphold the law in fact AND in intent. That intent is that organics will not cut corners and use artificial chemicals in place of good soil & sun shine to boost profits at the sake of quality. Restore the quality to the Organic label. Stop selling it short!!!

it is worth the efforts and the price eat less but eat better

The basis of human and ecosystem health is thriving, living, organic soil. We need genuine organic agriculture to produce nutrient-dense food for all while mitigating climate change by drawing down carbon and sequestering it deeply in organic soil. Allowing hydroponics to the certified organic using the same standards as real, soil-based agriculture makes no sense and is a fraudulent give-away.

Trust in Nature

I have grown organically for more than 45 years. And I keep growing my garden because I am aware that the organic label found on produce in supermarkets is questionable. Also, with many organic farmers world wide, I will still not by imported organic food because I do not know who to trust. This is called ruination. Corporate growers have ruined trust in the organic label to profit their stakeholders. A sad day for the small farmer who has already suffered greatly under the GMO industry. So many small farms ruined in law suits by this industry's need to control seeds and seed production.

Knew Coleman in the old days of organic farming organization and protection. Coleman like Joe Tooker worked tirelessly to protect Demeter, Biodynamic and organic farming but it is very, very labor intensive. Who in N. America will work for 10 cents/hour???

Save organic.

The "organic" label should mean what the Organic Food Production Act says it does!

USDA, honor your responsibilities to all of us living and eating in the USA, and get back to the spirit and letter of the Organic Food & Production Act.

Time to B O Y C O T T USDA organic! Their credibility is dismal at best.

The fear is great.

The USDA not only needs to enforce the standards but strengthen them to protect the value in domestic farmer's products, ensuring a viable future in farming.

So-called “organic” hydroponically grown food needs to be labeled differently than real soil-grown organic food.
