As historian Samuel Eliot Morison said, "History is the community as memory is to the individual." Our collective memory as a community mattered in the past, matters now, and will matter in the future; much more so than yet another cookie cutter development which could go just about anywhere. The land around Mt Zion Church should be preserved for all of us.

Thank you for your efforts to preserve the historic setting of the Mt. Zion Church and cemetery. Our ancestors gave this land for the church and we must do everything possible to preserve the site and the church. Destruction of the battlefield would be a significant detriment to the overall atmosphere of the church and its setting.

Was always one of my favorite drives in my younger years thru Loudon County heading west on route 50 and still now when we head towards Herndon to visit family. Always reminded me of the rich history of the area.
