Simple steps to reduce adult turtle road mortality. Shouldn’t need a petition to do the right thing.

I hope the study works with Ontario Turtle Conservation Center as they would have data of where turtles are hit. I hope all locations with high turtle injures / moralities are prioritized.

Permanent mitigation measures as proposed are the best way forward to reduce and ideally prevent turtles being struck by motor vehicles. 1,497 injured turtles have been admitted to the turtle hospital at the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. 90% of the turtles admitted are as of the result of being struck by a motor vehicle. Plans to address road mortality hot spots is long overdue throughout Ontario. So efforts for the placement of exclusion barriers at Highway #2 (Westbrook/Collins Creek) are applauded and supported as well as addressing the four other hot spots mention. All in support of this!
