Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Binding a Doctor's conscience is very damaging to the individual and the health system as well.

Doctors must not be forced to compromise sound medical judgement because of a non-medically based insistence on deviations from Best medical practice.

Stop this from happening.

No way to these changes! No person involved in emergency triage needs their critical decision-making stuffed up with the confusion and second-guessing this type of change to the Code of Conduct could lead to.

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to the Code of Conduct because it threaten doctors' ability to exercise independent clinical judgement and freedom of conscience. The proposed changes should not be accepted as they are inconsistent with good medical practice.

Doctors should be allowed to express their professional decision making on medical matters and not be cajoled and restricted by the Medical Board. The well being and care of patients should be the priority. The proposed changes to the Code of Conduct undermines the doctor and patient.

This sounds like sharia law compliance and promoting of murdering people under the 'euthanasia' banner.

medical advice and practice by doctors should be according to the best prevailing biomedical science, not according to whatever personal beliefs a person has or their cultural identity. How can our local GP possibly be abreast of the particular peculiarities of every culture represented in Australia, or of every religious belief or of every minor identity group in Australia. When I visit my GP for medical advice I only expect him or her to be abreast of the latest medical knowledge as a professional medical practitioner.

We are indebted to the medical profession and so appreciative of their care. Don’t change what is working.

Please allow Drs to use their knowledge and expertise to inform patients and allow them the right to differ in opinions from their clients.

Cultural beliefs and good medical treatment are not always alligned.

Doctors must be free to provide appropriate medical advice!!

This is an alarming example of identity politics posing a dangerous threat to good public policy - for the medical profession no less. Please! Australians deserve better than this.

Doctors like everyone in the society have their rights in terms of faith, religion and speech. The Medical Board of Australia violates the human right where you tell doctors what to believe and what to say or not what to say. You do not take political correctness into the code of conduct of anyone. You do not have that right. You do not have that authorities. Keep your hands of all medical practitioners. They have the right to believe what they believe is right. They have the right to say what they believe is correct.

To Members of the Medical Board of Australia The proposed Code of Conduct for Doctors will disempower doctors by demanding compliance in their clinical decisions based of what is deemed by the Medical Board to be "culturally appropriate". Failure to comply would see these doctors in danger of losing their registrations. This is an intrusion into the doctors' freedom to act ethically and in accordance with his clinical expertise for the benefit of their patients. It also encroaches on doctors' freedom of conscience. This, I believe, is an overreach of the Medical Board's authority. Doctors must not be forced to act contrary to this standard. Failure by the Medical Board to safeguard doctors from demands to act in accordance to principles (other than what is ethical and in accord with the doctors expertise as clinicians) will harm doctors and the patients they serve. The right and responsibility of doctors to treat patients in accord with ethical and medical principles of doing "no harm", in accord with their experience and values must remain the focus of the Medical Board. To shift to a new standard of what is "culturally" appropriate and to enforce this on doctors will do grave harm to the doctors and subsequently to patients alike.

Please do not allow this proposal to go through as it not only can tie the hands of doctors as they treat patients but it could also put patient at risk.

This legislation denies the Doctors right to practise what he believes is best outcome.

The medical profession should not have to conform or in any way be affected by trending "lower life standards".
