Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Please don't change medical ethics, any change would be detrimental to the doctor and patient

A doctor should stick by what he/she knows to be the truth medically and ethically.

These proposals are absolutely rediculous. Doctors do the best for us with a good conscience, let's keep it that way.

I think that this is an abhorrent demand for doctors. Doctors should be allowed to give their medical opinion based on their professional training, not on the wants of a minority group chasing recognition for their gender choice or parental choice for a child. There are two genders, you are born either male or female (with a few rare exceptions), any gender choice beyond that requires intense psychological support and I don't feel that a child is able to make such a permanent choice given that they change their mind about everything and should not be able to make a permanent life changing decision until all the correct medical and psychological requirements are met without parental influence.

Please do not allow this code of conduct to change. It is wrong to disallow Doctors to speak it as they see it and as it is.

Our beautiful home is being ruined by these people being allowed to maker their insane decisions! If a child decides they want to stop eating food and just eat dirt we would never allow it and definitely not encourage it as their right to choose that life style!! Why are we allowing people to make choices that only hurt them and everyone around them and encouraging them and convincing others that eating dirt is ok and that they should try it too!

Australian doctors should be allowed to conduct their diagnoses and treatment suggestions without having to bend to what may not be an historically accepted Australian medical belief or practice.

This is so wrong!

This proposal makes no sense whatsoever. It can only lead to a minefield of confusion and litigation that will be costly and non productive.

No one should ever be forced to do something against their conscience.

Doctors need freedom to determine best practice for patients please do not change medical ethics

These proposals are absolutely ridiculous.

Doctors should not have to comply with a patient’s beliefs about gender identity and sexuality, with no provision given for a doctor to differ in their professional judgement. Doctor's should always have good bedside manner, but this is well beyond the scope of cultural sensitivity and delves into issues that are harmful to the patient that are to be silenced and not addressed.

As the wife of a doctor, I understand the importance of the foundational ethics & values that motivate a high standard of clinical practice in their work. They should be respected for these & have a continuing right to practice from this value base. The community is better off for having medical practitioners who work with convictions such as these!

I have serious concerns with ethical implications in the proposed Code of Conduct. Thankyou.

Please do not change medical ethics that has served society well and give doctors freedom to determine best practice for their patients.

Chasing "Political Correctness" does not make anyone's actions or motives right, 'Culture' can be a sandhill moving in the wind or an unmoveable rock either way misplaced ideology can trap generations forever my the misuse of power by a few.

Have Australian polititians gone completely mad?

There appear to be number of items in the proposed code that address behaviour and intrude on the private lives of doctors, their capacity for free speech, which are outside the remit of the MBA. The problem is that for officials in AHPRA, and the MBA, it is easier to understand behaviour than good medical practice and many responses to notifications are based on this perception. For those officials, the code has the force of the law and I can see these new items in the code open a whole new areas of complaints against doctors.
