Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Doctors should not be made to go against their beliefs in carrying out their medical work.

Informed consent, not "culturally safe" please.

God Almighty commanded morality - to go for immorality has a deadly consequence.

Let's protect our high moral values and ethics and not let different cultures affect these precious standards that have been established in this, our civilized honorable country of Australia. God bless our country and our leaders.

So the patients can have a conscience but not the doctors? The patients tell the doctor what is best for them, overruling their medical knowledge and experience. This does not make sense. If the patient insists on their way, they should then go to another doctor who can accept that. no doctor should be forced to do what they think is not best or not right.

Body dysmorphia is a mental construct and unrelated in every way to the number of X and Y chromosomes assigned at conception to determine gender..

Please do not take away free speach for any person in medical field or allow cultural, sexual and orientation, or personal preference to replace sound medical practices.

First step in the wrong direction always opens a Pandora's Box- when will we learn? Ramifications of such a proposal are horrendous.

A doctor is first a person and then a doctor. His or her personality is part of their engagement with the patient. To deny this makes them less a person and therefore less a doctor.

Please keep doctors free to hold their own beliefs and practise accordingly.

A doctor needs to treat patients with his medical skills and not be pressured by cultural methods.

I strongly object to the changes proposed to the code of practice and ask that the 2009 version be left unchanged to ensure continued good medical practice and outcomes.

Doctors work hard on behalf of their patients, their professional practice informed by the code of conduct that guides their medical decisions. This should not be compromised in any way by undermining a doctor's conscience or forcing a change to their ethical standards.

We go to a doctor because we want help from a skilled clinician . We want to see someone making a decision based on best clinical practice not forced to conform to cultural practices. I believe we can respect each other's culture without enforcing it on another. Australia is a democracy and therefore the doctor should be free to follow their conscience and not be penalised for doing so.
