Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Good medical practice MUST take prominence over cultural beliefs. How could anyone believe otherwise?

Protect our doctors and medical staff.

I reject the proposed changes to the existing medical code of conduct as it would endanger doctors and patients clinical decision making and freedom of conscience.

The paragraph 4 of page 7 in the proposed change of code may seem innocuous and even in same way good, it is in reality very dangerous. This is because it threatens the fundamental freedom of medical professionals to speak and act according to their conscience.

Medical staff are there to heal, and care for patients, not kill.

Doctors are to provide medical care based on the science and design of the human body. It is dangerous and worrying that they could be punished for doing what they were trained to do, diagnose, treat and prevent illness and injury to people. They should not be dictated to about what is culturally relevant.

Good medicine should not be held hostage to social policy

this new proposed change is totally against the doctor's right to practice freedom of speech even if it is against the opinion of the mainstream. This is far worse than communism.

Doctors, not butchers

Drs should have the freedom to act according to conscience and their medical expertise,

This proposal has the potential to achieve quite the opposite effect of best practice.

Take away the restraints from doctors and allow them to do the job they were born to do. It is called FREEDOM.

A doctor's practice as prescribed by the Code of Conduct, ensures that a patient knows the standard that can be expected, but the doctor should not be reduced to a puppet of the patient or anyone else. These proposals emasculate the doctor, and deny him the right to perform according to his professional oaths.

The preposed changes to the Medical Code of Conduct undermine the role of doctors as professionals best qualified to give medical advice. Medical practitioners should be free to give the best clinical advise even it challenges beliefs of their patients who are also free to seek medical advice from many doctors. The proposed change is unnecessary, reduces the rights of doctors and inhibits scientific medical practice.

I am shocked at the suggested change and request that no such change occur at this time

This proposal takes the medical freedom and decision making away from our doctors. It would allow patients and families to request any sort of medical treatment , even if it would be detrimental to the patient.

Please leave it at the Hippocratic oath and freely allow Doctors a conscience call. They can suggest going elsewhere if the Dr doesn't perform what is being sought.

Doctors should have the freedom to make professional recommendations on cultural matters without being told what they can or can't say.

Please keep the Hippocratic Oath or Code of Conduct so we can continue to trust our doctors.

I don't think that these changes are in any way necessary. I think that doctors need to be respected for their judgement.
