The concerns expressed in this petition are sufficiently serious to warrant retention of the current code.

I am opposed to these proposed changes. This sounds like it will remove freedom of speech from our Doctors, please do not allow these changes as they will endanger good medical practice.

Please do not allow this code of conduct to change. It overrides the the qualified medical input of the Doctor who is considering the well-being & healthful outcome of the patient. The cultural opinions and practices of others can not only over ride the medical profession and the patients desire, but will FORCE the Doctor to go against his experienced medical judgement and conscience or he will have his career wrecked for the opinion of others.

The current code of Medical Practice, allowing our doctors freedom of speech and freedom of conscience, must be kept so that Australia's high standard of Medical Professionals can be maintained and trusted.

Doctors must be allowed to maintain freedom of conscience choice when choosing treatment of their patients. Refusing to do what is dictated by parents or others must remain a right for them. Law that dictates a doctors choices is dangerous and will harm the built in safety of the people of Australia. Anything that smacks of eugenics or shaping of our culture or will possibly do harm to individuals must be avoided. The changes threaten doctors and will shape their decision making. They must remain independent in their choices of treatment of patients.

Australia is so fortunate to have a highly qualified standard of Medical Professionals. Let them continue under the current code for the sake of all Australians and those who share choose to reside here.

Doctors should be allowed to practice according to their own medical code & ethics.

Families normally have very little medical knowledge and I do not believe families are capable of making the right decisions for family members without the knowledge and ability of a doctor advising them. Please allow doctor to have a right of making a decision according to their conscience.

I am very concerned about the Boards belief that it has the authority to shut down dissenting speech. Freedom of speech is what makes our nation so great and we shouldn’t be fearful of real discussion. If we are then there is something wrong with us

The proposed changes are worrying. A vital standard for medical practice would be removed if patients or families stopped doctors from discussing what is medically relevant to their care.

I can only imagine the doctor's frustration as various family members dispute with each other over what is culturally safe or relevant! In the mean time whilst this is going on the doctor's hands would be tied and the patient could die or worse the patient could suffer life long consequences.
Please do not tie doctors hands!
