Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

This document is extremely worrying as it impacts hugely on freedom of speech As a health practitioner myself I am alarmed daily by the threat to my personal freedom of speech It seems minority groups are being given way too much power over the rest of us and I strongly express my objection to this attempt to silence my own voice

It is not for the AHPRA to determine the codes for the best and ethical clinical and medical decisions. Their inappropriate "meddling" in this with the proposed changes will not only interfere but seems to encroach on the freedom of doctors to practice in the best interest of their patients as well as crossing into freedom of conscience and expression thereof.

Please protect the doctors professional competence by not allowing family members to force the doctors ‘medical decisions

First Do No Harm

Medical best practice is best practice regardless of its cultural implications. Leave the cultural implications to the family rather than place that huge burden of understanding on the doctor

People have a right to their own personal views. We are not a communist country!!!!!!!!

Whatever happened to 'Freedom of Speech'?

Recently our local G.P. voiced strong opposition to the introduction of poker machines. His views were challenged by among other 'vested interests'. Will he now be deregistered and leave our community with depleted professional care? Regards, W.O'C

The proposed changes should not be accepted as they are inconsistent with good medical practice.

This is disappointing that APHRA uses its powers to crush freedom of speech

All doctors should be free to give their honest opinion at all times so they can give each patient the best care available.

A doctor should be given the same choice of freedom of speech as anyone else. I am sure we will lose many great doctors if these changes are passed, I totally disagree with the proposed changes!

Australia has amazing health workers, great safeguards, Stop messing with something that works

A medical practitioner or nurse should have the right to a personal opinion to uphold safety of life and limb and to obey the original hypocritic oath. To prohibit freedom of choice to protect a patient or to say no to life threatening surgery or to say no to gender therapy before puberty is dictatorship and should not be allowed in a democracy. This is another example of "groupthink" which is threatening to destroy freedom of thought and conscience. The Medical Board of Australia should be defending the right to free speech, not becoming party to oppression.

Again the world is making decision based totally on feelings, and research and biology don't matter anymore. What next ???

Please allow Doctors the levity and autonomy to use their wisdom, discretion and knowledge to ultimately treat any one patient without the interference of the laws of the state (Big Brother)

I also oppose to the proposed changes to the code of conduct that will significantly prohibit doctors to voice their opinion just because it may not be in line with the "majority view". This should not be the position taken by the Medical Board
