Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

I am against the changes of the Medical board of Australia, the Doctors should obey the Oath that they promised Zoya.

I object to the proposed changes and believe doctors should be able to express their professional judgment and have freedom of speech of conscience. These changes are unnecessary and damaging to our community.

I do not believe abortion should be legal let alone doctors needing to refer pregnant women to abortion if the doctors do not believe it is the right solution. Moral codes of ethics are more important than just single solutions. Birth control is more important than abortions as a solution to often careless behaviour. Many women have multiple abortions and that is immoral. to do no harm is the most important moral choice a doctor has and decisions should be on medical grounds not some airy fairy grounds.

Surely a balance must be striked to preserve the right of not just patients but doctors. As it stands, the draft revision is tipping the balance way too heavily and dangerously in favour of patients, which is an unhealthy sign, as it threatens true democracy.

Please reconsider to not do this for the medical practitioners as it is not “by culture”. Thank you.

I am very concerned about the proposed changes. Individuals and cultural 'norms' or themes should not be playing God with others' lives.

These proposed changes contravene the basic rights of a doctor to inform and treat patients to the best of their ability.

This is unacceptable.

As a physician, now retired, I am alarmed and concerned at the way political correctness seems to be taking over from both common sense and goo medical practice, which has been developed over many years, for no apparent reason other than to be seen to be keeping up with the fashion of the moment. Most doctors are already aware of, and sensitive to, the cultural and sexual needs of their patients - that's part of our job. And they are the best people, in the right position, to decide what is, or is not, the best treatment or practice in a given situation.

It seems we want to take away the rights of everyone who is there to give us the best advice & in a position to see the end results that are not obvious or even considered by families relating to their culture. We must protect "Good Medical Practice" in Australia & safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct. Pressure from a minority should never be the reason to abandon a doctors advice or put a doctor into performing medical procedures that are against his/her conscience.

A patient or a patient's family could then demand surgical operations and other medical treatments, regardless of medical risk, on the basis of cultural wishes. Based on these significant proposed changes, doctors could be accused of not following the Code of Conduct and lose their registration if they did not go along with such demands. To exclude what doctors consider medically relevant from discussions with patients and families would clearly threaten well-established ethical principles of informed consent. This would not be "good medical practice", and would obstruct the medical professional's freedom to exercise sound clinical judgment. The proposed changes should not be accepted as they are inconsistent with good medical practice.

Doctors should have freedom of thought and speech. They have a moral duty to express their beliefs

I oppose the propsed change as it is contrary to sound medical practice.

The modern day record of leftist, atheist changes to the Hippocratic oath, tracks fatal failures on the slippery slope to barbarism.

I don't believe there is or should be only one voice on any issue.

I object to the proposed changes to the Code of Conduct. This is very worrying because the proposals can endanger doctors & patients regarding clinical decision-making & freedom of conscience.

Protect doctors freedom. We are humans too.
