Protect “Good Medical Practice” in Australia: safeguard the Medical Board Code of Conduct.

Doctors are entitled to have a different opinion to me. I can choose another or listen to what she says and compare it to what I believe or want. We live in Australia where free speech and free thoughts are allowed.

Freedom of speech is vital, we should not be told what we can and can’t say. Doctors should be able to speak freely without persecution.

The long march of the left secular progressives continues and accelerates

this is another attack on freedom in our country. Doctors should be able to continue to act in the best interests of the patient based on their medical knowledge and experience

As a retired occupational therapist I am concerned that the proposed changes could also affect this profession. We are trained to take a wholistic view of a patient, always acting in the patients best interests based on our medical knowledge and clinical experience, and considering other factors that the family and other professionals may raise. If a doctor or health professional could not inform a patient or their family of the appropriate treatments based on a possible cultural clash then I can envisage this deterring people from entering the profession or signal others to exit the profession prematurely.

Leave Doctor's personal beliefs alone.

Do NO harm.

The suggested changes would remove the ability of individuals to make decisions based on their belief system. It is an attack on freedom in this country and another step closer to Marxism.

To attempt to hijack doctors’ rights to speak their own beliefs outside of work is nothing short of oppression. I want my doctors to be able to speak freely in order to deliver the right care. PC brigade go home!

Doctors must be allowed to have personal opinions, and abide by the Hippocratic oath

Doctors should be free to give supportive moral advice as well as medical opinion.

Doctors have an obligation to maintain strong principles. I would not want a doctor who didn't stick to his carefully-formed principles.

Just who is pulling the strings in this country?

Outrageous thought police. What doctors will be censored? Whistleblowers? Those who discover a new cure or therapeutic practice?

This is a blatant Orwellian code and needs to be dumped

Adherence to the code extends beyond arguments about science to the realms of personal ethics and religious beliefs. Indeed, the whole purpose of the paragraph is likely to be focussed on societal values. The new code would prevent doctors from speaking plainly on matters that challenge their conscience. These matters include euthanasia, late term abortions, childhood gender dysphoria, legalisation of recreational marijuana, outcome of children adopted by same sex partners etc.

Doctors should be able to hold personal opinions without being investigated by the board.

Whatever happened to the rights of the patient?

Doctors should be allowed to express their personal opinion publicly.

Please protect the medical professional’s freedom to exercise their own sound medical judgement. Please protect current medical practice. Please!
