I expect my Professionals to be free to express their views in this democracy both privately to their patient and openly in the public forum without censorship. I have the intelligence to decide for myself if I agree or disagree with those opinions and the ability to vote with my feet without others filtering my exposure to different points of view.

As a Healthcare worker I don't want to be forced to participate in proceedures that radically oppose my belief & value system or be threatened with dissmissal or investigation because of my protected attribute of faith belief. These value system statements should be consultative with healthcare workers & practitioners not imposed by a minority board. We cannot be forced to worked against our conscience.

As a member of the public, I trust in the views of the doctor, especially my GP. But, if I think that his views are that of a professional body, then there is no trust in the medical profession. We seek their option in a lot of things in our daily lives, both personal and public. Its very sad that it will be no more. Please leave things as is. If it's not broken don't fix it. Freedom of speech is the essence of a democratic country.

The relationship with my doctor is personal and I expect my doctor to advise me in good conscience and not within party guidelines so hands of my Doc.

There is no place for AHPRA to be dictating the right to freedom of speech for any medical professional. Your place is to ensure a proper standard of training and registration. NOT TO BE A MORAL COMPASS.

Doctors are individuals with specific fact based training and must be allowed to use that training and not be subbordinate to the veiws of a group, whomever they are.

The personal beliefs of the doctor should be allowed when practising medicine and so he should be allowed to refuse a treatment to any patient that goes against his personal beliefs. After all the patient could easily find another doctor to do what they desire.

Over and above good medical practice a patient categorically deserves the truth in any communication to allow an informed judgement as to ones future.
