We have so many reports of injured or, more often, dead cats being found on Manx roads - good luck with your petition.

I agree. We lost our cat. Left in pain with a broken spine... he had to be put to sleep. Still miss him now x

Our cat was also run over and left to die. Poor boy could have been saved.

I can't believe this isn't the case- 100% support this. My cat was hit and killed by a car and the driver didn't stop... Disgusting. Let's hope for a change!

Losing a feline member of the family is heart-breaking. Finding it dead or injured on the road because some callous person couldn't be bothered to try and help it is very upsetting. If you can't be bothered helping an injured cat, at least inform a vet so that the animal can be scanned and the owner informed.

They should be given the same protection under the law as dogs, may stop some people aiming for them on purpose

I believe it should be an offence to not stop, assist and report hitting a cat with your car.

Yes I agree there are too many cats left at the side of the road and some awful people do make it a mission to actually run them down, this all an act of animal cruelty and should be dealt with and I do agree that alot of drivers are breaking the 30mph limit in town I have been behind drivers breaking it I do 30 and they are pulling away which says to me they are doing 40_50mph in built up areas and that is next to a police station imagine it being a child but to some the cat is there child and there feline family do mourn them and is sad to watch.

My pixi was hit by a car in my back lane and left for dead, after weeks of pain she was put too sleep and it broke my heart

People should have to report the death of a cat on the roads or anywhere so the family of the animal are aware!

Definitely - as a cat owner myself I can only state that this is a must and cannot comprehend how people can drive away after hitting a cat or leaving bereaved owners wondering what happened.
