The US Equestrian Federation (USEF) intends to cease future horse shows, tournaments and competitions at the beautiful Oaks and Blenheim in Rancho Mission Viejo, California. We respectfully request that USEF reevaluate the decision and consider the negative impact on the show industry and surrounding communities that attribute to its success. Neighboring communities including San Juan Capistrano benefit from visiting exhibitors who dine at restaurants, stay at area hotels and shop at local plazas. San Juan Capistrano, Rancho Mission Viejo and Coto de Caza are notable area horse communities with resident riders that value the convenience of The Oaks as their premiere A Show destination. In addition; the equestrian community provides jobs for many who rely on the continued existence of these shows. The livelihoods of trainers, coaches, grooms, farriers, veterinarians and facility managers would all be at risk.
Sadly, California is facing a crisis within the equestrian community. Developers and activists threaten the future success of this sport by use of their political influence and power. Urban development takes priority over the preservation of historic horse communities. The Oaks provides a convenient, friendly, well equipped and affordable facility for hunters, jumpers, dressage, eventers and Western sports enthusiasts and competitors. USEF's decision to end all shows with Blenheim and The Oaks reaches levels well beyond our industry and poses an economic hardship on local businesses.
Please help us protect equestrian activities at The Oaks and Blenheim. Help us support and promote the continuation of our equestrian sport and industry job opportunities as well as championing the success of equestrian parks and facilities. We thank you for your support and signature.
The Oaks in SJC, CA is one of the finest shows places in the West. It is unthinkable to end the USEF rated shows and all the special events and medal finals this facility hosts. Blenheim Equisports has hosted these shows for years and deserves the opportunity to continue forward. Sorry, but no matter the “bump in the road” with this environmental agency, they moved forward together to a new path and positive direction to fulfill the requirements. Do not be too hasty, USEF! Much is at stake here for the community of SJC and more specifically, our entire equestrian community. Please support Blenheim Equisports and the community and continue to allow all of these important quality events to continue.
