Rates should be coming down to help people stay in business. Putting them up guarantees some places will have to close their doors and/or staff will be laid off to compensate for the increase.

I'm so upset at this stage. I'm in business 40 years and never have I felt so hurt and let down by our council. I feel that the people voting in the council last Friday couldn't have understood what the were voting for. These people Must Stand up now and have this over turned. I'm not asking I'm begging.

Business is slow enough in town. I know. I work in Ennis. I would suggest you reverse this decision straight away
If not, a lot of people will be signing on for benefits. Nobody wants this to happen.

How come our media has not made the public aware of this petition, surprised at Clare FM especially as this issue is detrimental to all of our businesses and Councillors have some cheek and we paying their wages. I bet they didn't vote for a drop in their wages when we are barely surviving to pay our couple of staff and do without a wage ourselves. Thank you Joe for thinking of us as we struggle

Rates deliver nothing to the struggling businesses of Clare but stress and worry about how we are going to pay them. It is like a punishment for trying to create employment.
