Ennis town centre will become even more of a mecca for the 'to rent' signs..drive through Ballinasloe, Athlone and multiple other towns to be welcomed by the much sought after decor of 'for lease and sale' signs..town councils don't seem to have the ability to see what goes on under their own noses. Again I would ask what is the minimum educational requirement for people to hold such positions in town councils across the country? There are so many gombeens making daily decisions for us the public to endure...

I am completely behind Ennis businesses on this issue - increasing rates by 11% is ridiculously counter-productive. Our town has been hit badly over the last few years. A rate increase could destroy already vulnerable businesses.

I think it's an absolute disgrace they're trying to increase the rates. There are absolutely no incentives to open up or run a small business as it is?!? I don't understand the logic or mentality in any of it. There's no support or encouragement for small business owners in this town.

Our town looks destitute enough .... Please stop any more derelict buildings being added to the many, many which already exist.... SUPPORT the businesses in the town PLEASE!

Reverse the decision it is anti local business and will drive business to the wall and then everybody will travel the motorway to Galway or Limerick. Council need to wake up and realise they are competing with Galway & Limerick. Start working with business and not against them

An absolutely disgraceful decision. Councillors should be trying to help people in business not trying to destroy them. The town is bear looking as it is with so many shops closed. This needs to be changed. FAST.
