The council might have well have increased the rates by 50%! The size of the increase doesn't matter anymore, it just is not there and wont be collected! Let them increase away until the penny drops with them

It's about time the council acknowledged that without businesses in town there would be far less people employed within their own organisation. We are all well aware that some of these people are quiet aimlessly employed. It's better to let the people that are willing to work get on with their job , which in many cases adds value to sense of community. If more revenue is required perhaps the pruning needs to come from within. Stop pruning the new shoots and stunting potential growth.

What a disgusting and evil thing for our Councillors and Council to do, there are obviously no sparks between their ears at all. Good on you Joe at least somebody left in the County who is realistic and has vision to see what we are already faced with in business but there will be no businesses to discuss after that 11% hike so the Council will have to dig in some poor other misfortunes pockets because S.M.E.'s couldn't survive it

Time for councils and councillors to promote business and services and not put up rates to put them out of business tackle the government for taking your funding like the property tax and not the people trying to make a living and giving employment to the people of ennis

This is a disgrace there are loads of empty shops in Ennis at the moment and this will just close more. Absolutely crazy decision
