It is totally criminal that it is now in the hands of our famous Councillors as to whether we can try and struggle further to keep our doors open for business, they have no idea how hard the struggle is at present without the hike. Get realistic folks

I did have a business but unfortunately could not afford to hold onto staff because I could no longer afford their wages because of the high overheads in particular the commercial rates, so a lot of businesses will be faced with closure on the hike of the rates which is a total disgrace what the local representative are really representing is their own pockets, typical nobody likes to see successful people in the County or Country anymore

The Council and Councillors need to be realistic with this blackmail incentive scheme for businesses because if they have all that money to go around why are they trying to hike up the rates for their budget, they must think we're fools, as usual they are just thinking of their own pockets

Very True we have one councillor living in our Town and he is the Mayor as well and should use his common sense along with all the rest of the councillors who voted for the hike. Get rid of them I say and what were you thinking of Pat Daly because it certainly wasn't the businesses or employment for our Town

As a rate payer. I totally call on each councillor that voted to let us know why. Ennis businesses are struggling to pay their existing rates demands and the majority are in arrears. So increasing them makes no sense only causes more stress and frustration.

A hike in commercial rates is totally unacceptable to us. to date we have accepted the various increases and paid rates when due...........however in light of the number of empty shops in Ennis it is clear that an increase in rates is a retroactive step and will damage the viability of Ennis as a vibrant commercial community.

My understanding that rate were inflated and were due to be reduced not increased. We employ 75 staff and will look to make savings if the rates are increased, This will be by reducing staff numbers to make the savings to pay the increase in rates.
