Help Protect Chronic Pain Patients

It is harmful to the individual with chronic pain to deny opioid medication due to basic quality of life considerations.

I wish the folks in the decision making process to remember when they were in severe pain at some time in their life and then think about feeling that pain 24 hours a day 7 days a week forever. Opioid pain relievers let me live somewhat of a normal life except can't hunt or fish anymore. Thank You.

If Oregon State does force this there will be a spike in suicides, and I hope the state of Oregon gets sued and the state goes bankrupt and politicians put in jail. My wife was forced off of her pain medicine and she could not take the pain so she committed suicide, it has been almost a year since it happened and I am still in tremendous grief. These people punish people who really need help and are in chronic pain because of drug addicts or other people who abuse drugs or do the wrong thing, we are not those people and should not be punished for their actions. That's like saying well one politician had a sex scandal and was stealing money so let's punish every politician for it. When will the madness stop? When will they punish the drug dealers and abusers than than punishing true chronic pain patients.

Patients are to be offered treatments that are effective and prescribed and decided by medical provider Opiates work for many as shown by being on same doses often 10 years. This active therapy causes me more pain due to activity increases dystonia and pain and Parkinsonism severe bradykinesia No one would have government decide chemotherapy dose or drug which antidepressant which heart pill These as pain control with opiates are between doctor and patient In addition a pain practice should not say no opiates at all that is abusing control and if patients respond by more quality life and function then even pain doctor is causing harm by refusing provide what works in individual situation Chronic pain is not our fault even less than smoker with lung cancer but too many factors to deny pain also just stating as an extreme comparison

Living with chronic pain is hard enough without taking away medications that work for therapy that is less effective and hard to even get to without some relief. I am currently living without pain meds because my doctor is afraid of losing his license. I have unrelenting pain. I have had 3 surgeries in the past year and am facing more. I had a nerve block today that increased my pain. I have days when death seems preferable. I don’t rest well - ever. I can’t keep up with housekeeping the way I want. Check out suicide rates among those with chronic pain. If you take away pain meds that actually work, you’ll see an increase in suicides and overdoses from illicit drug use because people will be desperate. Every single death will be on your hands. Every single one.

I protest removal of opioid treatment for chronic pain. It's the only drug or integrative therapy that has helped my pain of fibromalgia in over 20 years of suffering.

Please, many conditions and diseases have no cure. We aren't addicts. We just need a little help with pain control.

Don't condemn people to live in intractable pain!!

Tapering CPP'S medication is going to create catastrophic events and not cure the opioid epidemic. This is NOT the answer!

I fully agree that using opiate based pain management has benefits and risks and that the ratio of risk vs benefit should be decided between patients and their professional providers. If a patient has no history of abuse of their pain contract, is regularly tested with no evidence of violation of their agreement and has a good history of benefits resulting from opioid therapy, that the stigma of addiction must be removed and unfair practices and or treatment of these patients must be stopped! We are not criminals! We simply want to live as normal people that are doing everything they can to provide a quality of life for ourselves, our families and those affected by the limitations living with of untreated chronic pain.

My elderly mother with severe arthritis in her back is having her pain medication taken away so note what she gets to spend the rest of her life in severe pain! She's the last type of person to become addicted. I've had leg and hip pain sense I can remember and have tried physical therapy, shots and other medications with not prevail

I am absolutely against what they are proposing here in Oregon for Medicaid cuts to opioids. It's inhumane

My sister suffers from an incurable disease with intractable pain and would surely end her life if it were not for medication. Please don't let that happen!

People like myself need to control severe chronic pain for basic physical comfort and the activities of daily living. Most patients use meds responsibly according to doctor's orders.

The proposal is cruel, archaic, not evidence based, and will lead to more addictions not less as people become desperate for relief. The fact that this is even a conversation is a sad state of affairs.

There is great danger that legitimate patients with severe everyday pain will be denied relief by legislation designed to address opioid abuse. Most opioid deaths are from illegally manufactured drugs. The management of chronic pain should be decisions made by the between patient and physician.

I've been taking opiates for years for multiple conditions and can barely have enough medication to be comfortable doing everyday life and we all are the ones jumping through hoops and going to physical therapy and prove that we do everything we can shouldn't be getting the repercussions of the true junkie bouncing to e.r room to e.r room or has other addictions to drugs but why should we suffer when we need them the most right now and can't because of a broken system that failed horribly
