Help Protect Chronic Pain Patients

This is inhumane treatment of the chronic pain suffer. Are animals are treated better. Government should not be in our healthcare.

I use opioid medications for my arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, and fibromyalgia. I follow my doctors orders, and take only what is prescribed. Without my meds, my quality of life deteriorates dramatically.We chronic pain patients deserve compassionate care. Period.

This blatant disregard for our right to have proper medical care with a legal medications is reprehensible! What's the motive behind what you're doing? This is harming innocent people with deadly consequences!

Now because of you others Drs are to scared to prescribe, so now I live in constant pain thanks alot

The CPTF and its proposed opioid ban is beyond anything reasonable or even sane, is not remotely supported by medical or scientific evidence, and is an egregiously prejudiced attack on the health, rights, and literal survival of Oregon's poor, ill, and disabled. The task force has ignored, subverted, and actively suppressed medical evidence and advice. Moreover, it stands to directly benefit financially from its own recommendations. This is far, far beyond outrageous and into criminal.

I served my community as a volunteer firefighter for 14 years until back issues caused me to have two very invasive surgeries. I am sooooo disappoited in current health regulation for patients with incurable, non cancer, lifetime pain management issues. WHEN did non cancer pain become irrelevant ad it became "OK" to throw lives away and cause us to take our own lives because of never ending , severe pain?

I have worked in the medical community for 30 years. During that time I have seen many people that I felt took advantage of our surgeons by demanding more drugs because of their reported pain. I also saw many, many people that suffered overwhelming, chronic pain. They did not demand more medication but were very careful in managing their prescribed drugs and did not overuse these. These patients would be submitted to enormous suffering if this bill passes and would be neglected and abused because of the behavior of others

It is cruel, inhumane, and against the Hippocratic oath what is happening to chronic pain patients. I know because I am o e of them, ,,, from over medicating ,,, to whaere we are now, the pendulam has swung too far, and people are SUFFERING!! For Gods sake, do the righ thing!

I will be 68 in December. I have Fibromyalgia & experience severe chronic pain. I am spending hundreds of dollars a month treating my pain with expensive cannabis because you don't care about chronic pain patients. I've never been an addict & use my medication responsibly & as needed. You will see more suicides from chronic pain patients. I wrote to Merkley (voted for all of you) but no response. I am SO disappointed in you.

People who haven't lived with severe, chronic pain can't understand, period!

This is a poorly constructed proposal that will cause harm to human life.

None of the proposed pain management options really relieve chronic pain. The change will ruin the lives of most people already suffering from chronic pain, and will cause far more misery. Instead, make doctors get to know their patients and teach them to recognize symptoms of overuse or dependence; do drug tests to weed out those who also use illegal opioid or use more than the therapeutic dose, and alternate opioids with non-opioids to prevent dependence. This "all-or-nothing" mindset is reckless, careless, and counterproductive.

Pain is Killing People

As a chronic pain patient and also as someone that is on disability due to incurable, progressive diseases, i oppose this new legislation. For so many people with chronic pain the only relief they have is from pain meds. Pain meds along WITH other therapies help pain patients stay active in their lives and communities. Its inhumane to expect those people to suffer needlessly.

Please do not go through with forced taper, the torture of people in severe life altering pain. We do not choose to hurt each day of our lives. Opiods was the last thing that I tried after years of horrible meds & torturous procedures, morphine helped!! They help us have some quality of life, along with other things like massage, water exercise,a lot of us use several ways,out of pocket, to help ease this pain along with opiod "medicins". Would you force taking away diabetes meds or thyroid meds? That would be endangering lives too,just like force tapers of opiod medication. If you force us off, we will have less quality of life,many talk of taking their own lives & already have. Those suicides don't matter to you? Going after the people in pain & doctors who care for us. We are easy targets who are not guilty of doing anything criminal act. Taking opiod medicin away from us who need them & doctors who care for us, making things harder on us all than ever. That wont stop not one bit of illegal drug sales, heroin or any overdose deaths, drug abuse related crime, or addiction on the streets, that will always be there! Please use the rescources to persue the real drug dealers & related crimes. Instead of making people in "pain" the criminals. Forced tapering hurts good doctors, will hurt our lives, familys, & caretakers too. Cause life altering bad hardships. Thank you for reading this.

Bad business

I am signing this Petition because what is happening in Oregon is beyond a disgusting attempt to "try" and "fix" the Herion Epidemic by attacking the Chronic Pain Patients. Not only in Oregon but, this entire country and Canada is going about this the wrong way. Like rats running from a barn fire, our politicians think they can "fix" Herion and Illicit Fentanyl overdoses by taking away medication from legitimate chronic pain patients. Wake up and Pray Up People, this is not going to solve the problem. It will only make it worse, mark my words, because that is what is coming. You will have blood on your hands and if you do not care about your salvation, then you should. Politicians, I beg you to please go to church this Sunday and ask God to put some compassion in your hearts for people that are suffering with pain and ask Him to remove the demon that all of you seem to have inside of you! What you are doing is morally wrong! You are not doctors, you did not go to medical school and know nothing of what Chronic Pain is. Listen to the people in pain and listen to the doctors that are telling you what you are attempting to do will only cause more harm than good. Getting an illness, a disease or a drunk driver crashing into your car and crushing your entire spine, leaving you with permanent brain damage can happen to anyone, even to you lawmakers. So, think hard, real hard before you even consider doing such a horrible act of taking away medication from patients that need it. If insulin starts getting people high will you take that away from diabetics? Think! I pray for my fellow chronic pain warriors!!
