Help Protect Children from Unjust Involuntary Psychiatric Examination!

I am signing to promote the rights of parents in caring for and protecting their child.

My son is under baker act and is horrible because only the parents we can care our kids better.

Parents rights should not be taken away this lightly. No one should be able to take away our children without a very serious and detailed investigation, doing so destroys families and kids.

Nobody should make these decisions for our children, but us as parents!

This law must be banned!

It's unhelpful, in fact, very traumatic, I know personally as an Adult and they currently have my Child and it's been even worse.

It is absolutely ridiculous that a school is allowed to take my child and have a police officer Baker Act them when they're only 11 years old. When children are pressured in school bullied in school and have hard days and you Baker Act them because they have a very barge emotional breakdown. This shows the weakness of our schools and the fact that they just want to get rid of anybody. This is not right. Hand should never be put on children nor should they be taken off the premises of a school without the permission of the parents!

The parents should have the right to decide what is best for their child. The parents should be able to have some level of trust in the educators at the school that their child attends. NO one should have the right to change your child's future that doesn't know your child the way that you do.

The baker act is completely out of order and against human rights. Its more like a punishment than anything else. These kids are victims, not criminals!

My daughter lives in Florida and was taken and held for 3 days with little or no information given to us. This is a sick law and a violation of my parental rights. The state of Florida can go to hell! I have never felt so helpless as a father!

Please talk to the parents first about their child/children. It is a vital step. Parents love their children and want to help them.

How can you put handcuffs on a 8 year old kid with autism. Tbe baker act needs to be definitely review.

If authorities have a concern for a child they should speak to the parent(s) not just drag a child off. I find the people initiating the Baker Act not only overreact, but are not qualified to understand its proper use. Very traumatic for a child, especially if the child is wrongly Baker Acted - there should be legal recourse for the wrongly detained (kidnapped).
